About the Blog

Tasting Treviso brings you through the ins and outs of living in a tourist area from the perspective of a simple family of four. It has been an idea of mine for more than a year now. I felt that a blog which could capture some of the uniqueness of this charming city, and daily life within it, would be a welcomed addition to Italy's entourage of tourist and travel info-sites.

Until now, I haven't found any blogs or sites that show you daily life as it really is in Italy. The sites I have seen are all about the glory of travel and where to go, what to see, hotels etc. Especially, I've not found anything dedicated to the city of Treviso. So I wanted to offer something different. Something that takes you on a personal journey with a local family. My family.

My wife and I have been living in the province of Treviso for over nine years now. In the Summer of 2006, we moved into the old "historic" center of Treviso (Centro Storico) as a family of three. We are now a family of four, and love most everything about living in Treviso, except for the rainy Autumn/Winter and terrible drivers that are responsible for my many premature grays.

My full time occupation, if you can call it that, is pastoring Calvary Chapel, an international, non-denominational, Christian church in the Northeast section of Treviso. Part time, I work as a guitar teacher, language instructor, and translator. I also run a few other blogs because I love writing so much and have too many interests to envelop in just one site. They are listed in the "Links" list on Tasting Treviso's homepage sidebar.

For us, living in Treviso presents a mixed salad of emotions. At times it's outright frustrating. At other times enchanting. But most of the time it's terribly predictable and inconveniently exciting. And it's ALWAYS expensive. But if you approach it all with a dash of humor, you'll find it truly comical. The description of this blog summarizes it best, "The Bitter and the Sweet from the Land of Radicchio and Tiramisu." That's also why I think you'll enjoy Tasting Treviso. The more this blog develops, the more you'll see (and taste) and the more you'll fall in love with her! Se la vedi, t'innamori!
